Yes on Prop 30- Don’t Let the Republicans Cut Education Funds

October 30, 2012

If voters understand that Prop. 30 will tax the top 2% and use that money to stop another $6 billion in cuts to education, they support it.²

Election Day is one week away, and polls show that support for Proposition 30 has fallen below 50%.¹ There is only one way to turn this around and save public education from $6 billion in ADDITIONAL cuts in January.

President Obama will win California by a huge margin, but research shows that California voters planning to support him don’t understand what’s at stake and might not vote on all the propositions. If voters understand that Prop. 30 will tax the top 2% and use that money to stop another $6 billion in cuts to education, they support it.²
Some progressive voters aren’t even planning on going to the polls, since they don’t think their vote will matter in California. We have to make them understand that their vote is vitally important to our children and the future of our state.

Why is Prop. 30 falling in the polls? Obscenely wealthy, right-wing nuts are dumping boatloads of money into misleading ads and creating doubt in the minds of voters. All by himself, Charles Munger, Jr. — a trust-fund baby who inherited his riches — has spent $35 million on TV ads and mailers. The only way we can fight back is by reaching out to voters individually and making sure they understand what’s really going on.
If you absolutely can’t volunteer in the next week, please share the California Progressive Voter Guide with your friends and family via email, Facebook, and Twitter. It’s super easy, just click here and use the buttons.
